How can they do this?
The decentralized architecture that Timpi has built consists of three primary components within the GeoCore Node.
Contributors will be compensated in TIMPI for the value of the work and capacity they provide to the network. There are three different kinds of operations that a contributor can perform, with more operations in the future
Collectors:
The decentralised “workers” that connect to the closest GeoCore via API and perform the crawling operations. The Collector works on any system and does not need a static IP address or open ports. It is completely invisible and segregated from the frontend search service via the GeoCore. That way, Timpi can ensure that the Collector’s security is not compromised by running our software.
Guardian:
The internet contains approx. 1.7 billion websites, with around 250.000 new sites, are created every day. In order to create an index of the entire Internet, Timpi requires a vast amount of storage. This is, besides the crawling challenge, also the reason why there are no real alternatives to google or bing (Bing powers Yahoo, DuckDuckGo does not have a search index of their own and use sources such as Google) as the initial investment in hardware (either bare metal or cloud) is too steep for anyone to justify. That is why Timpi uses Guardians — distributed storage nodes- to solve this problem and distributes the data onto many nods that are run by the community.
Overwatch:
Monitoring and coordination are the roles of the Overwatch. Maintaining a vast distributed network of Collectors and Guardians requires an entity that governs communications and transactions and establishes trusted relationships between all entities. Overwatch initially runs within the Core but will be moved into the community as a node in a later phase.
So what does this all mean for us everyday users of the popular search engines?
Nothing will change in how you look for content. Most importantly you keep your privacy, no one will track you. Privacy is absolute key. You have access to unmanipulated information.
There is no other project in the world doing what Timpi is doing. We, at KDL, believe that Timpi will be the project to put Decentralized entities on the worlds forefront, along with the meaning in itself; No more collecting private data, no more manipulation of what is presented to us, with an amazing business model.
